Asian Style Fish Marinade

  • 1 tbsp Fresh ginger, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Honey
  • ½ tsp 5 spice powder
  • ½ tsp Cayenne powder
  • ¼ cup Tamarind sauce (available in the supermarket)
  • 1 tbsp ANGOSTURA® low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters
  • 1 Green onion, finely chopped
  • 1lb Fresh fish fillets


  • Combine the above ingredients (except fish) in a bowl and whisk well
  • Wash the fish fillets in water and dry completely with absorbent paper towel sheets
  • Brush each side of the fillets with the mixture and allow to marinate for 2 hours
  • Heat a heavy bottom skillet, add enough oil to coat the base and add the fish; allow to “brown” for approx. 3-5 minutes
  • Turn over and do the same. (Depending on the thickness of the fish you may want to finish cooking in an oven pre-heated at 350ºF)
  • Serve with stir-fried vegetables and noodles or a light salad
