Angostura Pita Pocket Steak Sandwich

  • ¼ cup Beer
  • ¼ cup Tamarind sauce (available in the supermarkets)
  • 1 tbsp Ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp ANGOSTURA® aromatic bitters
  • 1 tbsp Garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 ½lbs Tri-Tip steak or sirloin steak (cut into 1-inch strips)

Other ingredients:

  • 2 Onions, cut into strips
  • 2 Sweet peppers, cut into strips


Tomato slices and lettuce


  • Combine the ingredients for the marinade into a bowl
  • Add the steak strips and allow to marinate overnight
  • Remove the strips from the marinade. Heat a sauté pan on high heat and sear the meat; add the onions and sweet peppers.

To assemble:

You can use pita bread or sliced bread and your condiments of choice
